180° South

In a weekend filled with watching some really good movies, 180˚ South takes the award for the best movie of the weekend. Part travel narrative and part environmental film, this documentary follows Jeff Johnson as he follows in the footsteps of Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins. Their 1968 journey of over 5,000 miles took them from California to Patagonia. Both of these well-traveled men still consider this journey "the trip of our lives."

Filled with amazing scenery, great characters, footage from the 1968 journey, lots of things to think about and a spectacular soundtrack, this is one of the best movies I have seen in a long, long time. You can't help but to continue to think about this movie after the credits roll.
